They had two versions of this, one with sparkling qualities that people of this extraction surely must possess, and one that was decidedly less flattering. I'll let you guess which one that I chose. (click on the picture to see the alternate version, lol)
Also, it has aliens, which amuses me because... Well. The X-Files. XD (No one will ever see the fic of my shame for that show.) But my impression of all fanfic stems from that, because... There was an entire web archive devoted to novel length fanfic. It was great, and to my blissful young mind, the happiest place on earth. Given that my parents A. Hated the show with a passion (them accidentally seeing the ep about a cult thing which included, you know, eyeballs, and whatever kind of spurred this, sad), and B. hence, that I read all that fanfic with my two internet browsers open and my mouse on the "x" button and something completely innocuous underneath it. I had a trigger "close" finger. I also sobbed mightily over "The Unnatural" but that's another story
Reasons to be scared to procreate: I'd get ulcers if they had a computer in their room, because I know what I got up to even with the computer smack in the middle of the house.
Then again, should I worry? I turned out okay. ...I think. ...Right?
And then I grew up and did whatever I wanted (within the constraints of time + money, familial objection, friend availability, how far that boy band is on the other side of the universe, etc). So far that's working out okay. I'm still testing the waters, frankly. XD

I'm not naive; they'll be doing exactly what I was doing at that age, and a computer in the living room only goes so far, especially since all their friends will have laptops by that point.

Date: 2010-06-02 03:06 am (UTC)You'd have to be a very hip parent. Into all the newfangled things and seeing just how they're getting up to what they're getting up to, lol. I would definitely not want to be that mom who monitors every little thing like they're nuclear codes, you know? Exploration is a part of learning. But, given, I would probably not pop out a child with my level of (non)sense. Oh goodness.
