Cake and... things

I think I had a point to this post beyond going "behold, cake" but I can't decide what it was. I am eating cake with my chai latte remnants, vegetating, banging a metal pipe on the HenHae and getting lovely echoes... But better echoes than me moaning about how terrible smutty scenes are to write and that it will only make me dislike this other fic more than I do because... because they always do. Not moaning any more than I just did, anyway.
On the job front... I got up 30 minutes too early this morning, and it didn't matter. Not happening again. It's so... frustrating. I just want to get started and no one wants to get going. I'm working and it's not going anywhere.
So anyway. Have some terribly fuzzy pictures. Apparently I am fail at wielding the camera.

Clearly these were taken before the chocolate glaze had solidified. *wry* I am bad at waiting. The cake was more solid than I anticipated. Not in a bad way. The homemade pudding was fine... It wasn't like omg, my heart? It was very vanilla-y. It was good, though. But my peasant palate is just as happy with pudding from a box. But the vanilla bean was fun to work with. So weird but fun...
To celebrate my job and having less time to cook... I bought myself a book on baking bread, a baking stone, a baking pan, a pizza peel, a new set of measuring cups/spoons and spatula for my mixer, some chocolate molds and...
Right, a fiction book. Lest someone go O.o at me.
I love the smell of books. Have you ever just stuffed your nose into the pages and inhaled? It's an amazing scent. It's like smelling happiness...

Date: 2009-07-23 06:51 am (UTC)And yes, I love smelling the pages of a book. It gives me a lot of different feelings; serenity and excitement and happiness are the main ones. :D
And is it just me or does the smell sharpen on rainy days?

Date: 2009-07-24 01:09 am (UTC)Just walking into a place of books is... It's almost a religious experience. Sigh. ...Speaking of which, I'd better get religious on renewing my library books. >.>;;;;;
That extra moisture to carry the scent? I dunno!

Date: 2009-07-24 01:10 am (UTC)It is... Is it something they put in the ink or something? My dad keeps saying books will disappear, but... I would cry. Not to be able to pick up a real, solid book...

Date: 2009-07-23 11:09 am (UTC)I also love the smell of books. I do like how new ones smell, but it's the oldest ones that really get to me. The scent of a library, with shelves full of old books. It's heaven, really.
That, the one of a recent baked cake, and the scent of rain that has just started to pour down.. are my favorite ones :3
Have a good day! *hugs*

Date: 2009-07-24 01:12 am (UTC)Old books. Gracious. I worked in a library once, and though I can't say I loved every single second of the work, I so binged on the smell. I loved being there above all things...
Also, a nice yeasty bread, for me. Rain, def. Sigh. Such amazing things we get to experience~~
Thank you! :D I hope your day was good as well~!
